The food is great but is not (heat) hot. We are regulars there. We're pretty sure they keep things refrigerated, warm it and make the plate it's served on extremely hot, yet the food itself is barely warm. The flavor is great though. The bread is fantastic. The salsa is red only (nothing green in it) and a bit garlic-y, but we really like it! The place is a historic site-- very old but kinda cool. We've never been upstairs to the bar. It's owner ran with a few other employees. They don't go above and beyond with hospitality but you get average service and what you need.

Been going to this restaurant since l been in my mama's belly. Loved the food and service my whole life EXCELLENT I'm Italian and we always dip breads in sauces and this is the only Mexican Restaurant I've ever known to have the wonderful Pyrenees sour dough bread to dip with salsa.

This is a staple in Bakersfield. When I was a kid, I remember going in with my dad. I remember the red vinyl menus and the velvet pictures on the walls. The sourdough bread served with butter and salsa. To this day, it is a comfort that I can still go in to this place and have some of the best mexican food. During the years I lived away, I missed it. Glad to be back so I can relive my childhood memories and enjoy my favorite mexican food.
